Why you need a birth time for the Rising sign

Your Sun and Moon signs can usually be found from your date and place, but the Rising sign changes roughly every two hours and depends on an accurate birth time. Without a time, the calculator can still return your Sun and Moon, but not a reliable Rising sign.

How this calculator works

The Sun and Moon can usually be located from your birth date and place, while the Rising sign is a time-sensitive horizon angle that needs an exact birth time. This calculator puts those inputs into one chart: date and place establish the luminaries, but a missing or rounded time can change the Ascendant and the houses around it.

The server returns the three placements from the calculated chart, then the full result adds every planet, house and aspect when the birth-time data supports them.

The Sun, Moon and Rising values are calculated on the server from the Swiss Ephemeris, which is also used by professional astrology software; the calculation validation page records the process and its limits.
