Birth chart without a birth time

You can absolutely calculate a meaningful birth chart without a birth time. The placements that don't depend on the exact moment — most planetary signs and the aspects between them — stay valid. What you can't reliably place are the rising sign, the houses and the chart angles, because those need an accurate time. The honest approach is to include what's solid and leave out what would be a guess.

What you still get

Without a time you keep most of the chart's substance: the signs of the Sun and the planets, and the aspects between them. The Sun sign is fixed for the whole day, and the slower planets barely move, so their signs are certain.

That already tells you a great deal about drive, communication, love style, energy and the major tensions and supports in the chart.

The one thing to watch: the Moon

The Moon moves quickly — roughly twelve to thirteen degrees a day. On most days it stays in one sign the whole day, so your Moon sign is safe. But if you were born on a day the Moon changed signs, the sign can be ambiguous without a time. In that case, treat the Moon sign as provisional.

What gets left out

Three things genuinely require an accurate time: the rising sign (Ascendant), the twelve house cusps, and the four chart angles. GetBirthChart omits these rather than inventing them, because a wrong rising sign or wrong houses would quietly distort the whole reading.

How to get a chart anyway

Enter your birth date and place and skip the time. You'll get a time-independent chart focused on planetary signs and aspects. It's a complete, usable snapshot of your core placements — just without the house and angle layer.

Finding or estimating your birth time

If you want the full chart later, your birth certificate is the most reliable source; some regions record the time, others don't. Family memory can give a rough window. When only an approximate time exists, an astrologer may use chart rectification — narrowing the time from known life events — but a recorded time is always the gold standard.

You can add the time later

Nothing is lost by starting without a time. If you find an accurate birth time down the line, recalculate to unlock your rising sign, houses and angles on top of the placements you already have.

Try it without a time

Enter your birth date and place — the time is optional. You'll get your planetary signs and aspects right away, and can add a birth time whenever you find it.
